This is a blog post that I’ve been meaning to write, and I’m finally getting to it. Recently, I was trying to find reviews of something that’s popularized by social media, and I couldn’t find a review that was not either sponsored, gifted, or an ad. That is what prompt me to write this blog post about something I passionately dislike, but the whole social media world seems to love – the Our Place Always Pan.
In November 2020, we recently moved into our new and first home, and my sister gifted us the Our Place Always Pan. I was excited and I got the beautiful warm dusky pink color! I’ve seen this all over social media and everyone has been raving about it. The pan itself comes with a colander/steaming basket, spatula that has a built-in spoon rest, and a lid. In addition to that, my sister also gifted us the Spruce steamer baskets. I have 2 and it comes with paper liners. It looks like you are also gifted chopsticks when you order it (It wasn’t included in 2020). The always pan itself was $120, and I’m always big on “investing” into quality items. If this pan had lasted me a few years, I would’ve think it was well worth it.
Unfortunately, within a few months – I noticed a lot of issues.
- This mistake is my fault as I didn’t read the instructions well, but the pan is only made to be used under low-medium heat. I used it on high heat once and it completely ruined my pan. It has never been the same since. If I had known that you can only cook under low-medium heat, I would’ve returned it right away. As someone that cooks all the time, and cook Asian style, high heat is a must for me.
- The pan is made out of a ceramic material, which if you have a gas stove – the bottom of the pan gets dirty quick and it’s not easy to come off! As a matter of fact, mine is purely stained brown now.
- For a pan this expensive, I really wished it was able to go into an oven as well.
- Can’t use metal utensils.
The pan is now in the back of the cabinet, and I only use it when I have to steam something with the spruce steamer basket. What a waste of money and huge disappointment.
Now, I do also want to talk about the PROs of this pan:
- Everything does go well together. The colander/steaming basket does fit perfectly inside the pan. As well as the Spruce steamer baskets (which I do love). The spatula has a “home” when cooking which I appreciate.
- The pan itself is lightweight and has not 1, but 2 pouring spot which is handy.
- Many color options, and would look great on display (if your bottom doesn’t turn brown like mine).
- The handle stays cool.
Unfortunately, the cons/issues I have with this pan outweighs the pros. I happened to be discussing this with a few friends and turns out – they all have this pan and dislike it as well for the same reasons I mentioned. I highly don’t recommend this pan.
If you want to know what pan/pots I did end up getting and is literally one of the best “investment” I purchased – Hexclad. I’ve been having it for over 6 months now, and I’m still in-love with it. I wrote a blog post on that recently.
Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope this blog post was insightful for you.
