HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! And to all the single people as well, you deserve love too. I am sending hugs and kisses through the screen. I hope you enjoy this day either with a friend or even by yourself. One day, I will write a blog post about my single days and how I truly embraced/enjoyed it.
Last Tuesday, P asked me if I would like to go out and celebrate Valentine’s day on Friday or Saturday instead of the actual day (which happens to land on a Monday this year). Of course, I said yes! I very much prefer to go out and have a good time on a weekend instead of a weekday, especially if I’m going to have a few drinks. Also, let’s be real – we all know that restaurants on V-day are super busy and overpriced. This turned out perfect, because I knew I could get home early enough on Friday to “doll up” aka get ready, but Monday (V-day), I will be having a long day at work.
On Wednesday (02/19), I overheard our colleagues (visiting from Europe) discuss about going to dinner at a place called Alpine Inn. A local colleague mentioned that it’s a very cool beer garden spot, surrounded by trees. That intrigued me. I looked it up on Yelp and and it’s was now on my list of places to try. I mentioned this spot to P, but told him that we don’t need to go here for our V-date… Any places he chooses will be fine! He went on their website was also interested, and since he didn’t choose pick a restaurant yet – we decided to go there!
Friday was a warm and sunny day. Perfect for this spot as I know it’s mostly outdoor dining and surrounded by redwood trees. I wanted to wear a dress, but I forgot I have this heart skirt that is perfect for this occasion. I paired it with a pink lace camisole with the new sneakers I just bought at Costco. I even put on my gold hoop earrings.
Costco, if you ever want to sponsor me – my door WILL ALWAYS be open for you. My family has been loyal to you for a long time, since you were Price Club.
I believe I got mine at Nordstrom rack years ago. Unfortunately, this skirt is very limited right now and if you click the link above, it’ll direct you to a google search of the Rebecca Minkoff – White/Navy Marigold skirt. You’ll come across mostly second hand stores that have limited available sizes. Hope you can find something for yourself!
2. Melrose and Market – Lacy Cami (Pink Smoke)
The cami I have is actually from the brand Socialite, but this looks identical to the one I have and it’s still available. I got mine from Nordstrom rack years ago, and I have this style of cami in different colors .I love how there have adjustable straps and the V-neck line doesn’t show too much cleavage.
If you watched my Instagram stories last week, you saw my Costco haul and that I purchases these Tretorn sneakers. They’re $25 with $5 off, making it $20! The best part? They only had one left of my size! I just tried looking on Costco website, and they don’t have this on their website 🙁 I did however google where you can get this, and turns out – you can get it almost anywhere but the prices varies from $60-100. The link above goes directly to Amazon, which is selling it at $60 (cheapest I can find online), but with limited sizes available. DSW is selling it for $70 with plenty of sizes available.
I was gifted these earrings two years ago. Then one night, I had a little too much fun, and lost one side. Because I love them so much and it was a gift, I purchased them again. These aren’t real gold, but they have yet to tarnish like my other gold-plated earrings. Super light weight and affordable.
Dinner was F A N T A S T I C.
First of all, please be aware that this place can get crowded and they don’t take reservation. Also – pictures on their website or yelp don’t do it justice of how spacious they are. We pulled up to the parking lot, which is probably about 1/2 mile long and was filled with cars in every spot. Cars were waiting to park. Cars were everywhere. People and dogs were everywhere. Since this was more up in the hill, I thought maybe these people were parking here for a hike.. no way they were all here for Alpine Inn.
I was wrong. The parking lot attendant did let us know that the parking lot was way too full and we would have a better chance at parking on the roads about 1/2 away. He also informed us that the average wait time is only 15 minutes, which to my surprise – I knew this place had to be huge then. I got out the car, put our names down on the list, and we went to park about 1/2 away on the side of the road.
We waited 25 minutes, which was not bad at all. There was a waiting patio area where you can order some snacks and drinks. I should also let you know to bring a sweater/jacket. Because it was up in the hills and the trees were blocking the sun, it was quite chilly. Luckily, they do have heat lamps outside in the waiting area and in their outdoor patio where everyone was dining at. This place easily had over 200 people there. It was lively, and beautiful.
P and I went straight to ordering. We both got 3 cocktails each.
P’s drinks: Bloody orange margarita, the hayride, and james and the giant peach.
My drinks: Cranberry mule, lillet it go, and ginger paloma.
Our favorite drinks of the night would be the bloody orange margarita followed by the hayride, but they were all delicious.
I also requested of the Cranberry mule be made with Gin instead of Vodka, and they said no.. which most likely mean that some of these drinks were pre-made.
For food: we ordered the Zott’s chili cheese fries, Chicago dog, and the slow smoked pull pork sandwich.
All so darn good. I literally want to go back and try everything on their menu now. Their pizzas even looked amazing (it looked like the “New York floppy style” pizza), but that would’ve been too much food for us to eat. P ordered the Chicago dog, expecting to actually be disappointed. He still wanted to order it because it’s not often you see that on the menu, and I’ve never had a Chicago dog in my life. He did want to mention that it wasn’t a true Chicago dog, because it didn’t come with a poppyseed bun, but delicious nonetheless.
I definitely recommend to check this place out, if you’re in the peninsula-bay area. I already can’t wait to bring family/friends here next time! But I’ll be sure to arrive earlier (possibly 4pm). I forgot to mention that by the time we got our table, which was around 5:45pm, the wait time went up to 1 hour for those who were arriving.
Have a wonderful Valentine’s day !
This website was… how do I say it? Relevant!! Finally I’ve found something which helped me. Appreciate it!
